More often than not, people get nervous when having their portrait taken, sometimes even comparing it to the dentist? I always spend time chatting to the subject beforehand. My amiable, relaxed approach sets the sitter at ease. I would say the technical aspect of portrait photography occupies about 5% of the process, 95% is spent successfully interacting, connecting and communicating with your subject, resulting in a portfolio of images that they are happy with.
